How long does it take for an amoeba to reproduce?

This entire process may last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Under some circumstances (i.e. when the environment is nutrient/prey defficient), A. proteus may reproduce by multiple fission, where more than two daughter cells are produced. The process begins in the same way as binary fission does.
