What happens when a cast comes off a broken wrist?

When the fracture clinic feels it is safe for you to start to move and use your wrist the cast will be removed. When the cast is removed many people find that initially their wrist is stiff, weak and uncomfortable, it may also be prone to swelling and the skin dry or flaky, this is quite normal.
