If the manufacturer requires 91 octane fuel then you risk damaging the engine if you use lower octane fuel. Nothing dangerous will happen but you'll feel a little less “soup” when you press on the gas after the premium finally dilutes away to complete 87 grade. The engine will not suffer any mechanical damage.
